Scenery Spectacular!

We started our holiday with our motorhome at Rocky Pool which is a permanent waterhole on the Gascoyne River about 50km east of Carnarvon in W.A.  Although it looks dry and desolate the scenery around the waterhole is pleasant. We spent 5 days utilizing our 2 solar panels and 155L fresh water capacity.

We found the road unmade for the last 4km which was pretty rough however we crawled along in 2nd gear and had no problem.  On the last day, there was a sudden rain squall and the road turned to glue!!  For 4 very slow kilometers in 1st gear, we got back to the tarmac and we were safe.
We then moved on to Teddington Reservoir which is in the St Arnaud Range National Park about 40km north of Avoca. There are 2 small dams in the catchment and these had been dry for 12 years.
In early September before we arrived there was 3 days of heavy rain and the dams filled to the point of overflowing.  The native orchards and wild flowers were spectacular at this time following the downpour.
The camp ground we stayed at was well drained, with firm gravel tracks so there was no problem for us. Toilets, fireplaces and firewood provided by the Park Ranger made this “freebie” camp site ideal for a 6 night stay.
